Thomas G. Wickerham

Council Chair
Region 1 | Campaign Area: Greater Rochester NYS DEC – Retired

Tom was elected Chair of the Statewide SEFA Council in March of 2015 on which he has served since 2011. He has worked locally with the SEFA campaign for over 26 years, several times acting as the local agency coordinator. He also continues as the Chair of the Greater Rochester Area SEFA Committee and has been that committee since 2008.

Tom is an Environmental Program Specialist II with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Division of Air Resources and has been with the DEC since 1987. He has a BA in Geology from Thiel College and an MS in Environmental Health and Safety Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Since 1998 he has served part-time as an Adjunct Professor in the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Environmental Health and Safety Management program.

Prior to working for the DEC, Tom’s experience includes twelve years in oil and natural gas exploration and development as a petroleum geologist and exploration manager. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster for a local Boy Scout troop for fifteen years, during which time he served for two years as the Chair of the Special Scouting District and member of the Executive Board of the local Boy Scout Council.

Tom and his wife have two adult sons. The younger has grown up with multiple disabilities, so they have seen first-hand the positive impacts that SEFA charitable organizations have within communities. Tom’s continuing commitment to the success of the SEFA campaign is his way of “giving back”.
