A message from the SEFA Statewide Council Chairman George Goldsmith

SEFA Council Chairman George Goldsmith On behalf of the Statewide Council, I am pleased to welcome you to the SEFA Website. This site gives you access to information that will ease your decision to designate to your favorite charities, in a clear, user-friendly manner.

SEFA is a voluntary, confidential and easy way to support your favorite charity. In 2008, we raised nearly $10 million in donations from nearly 30% of the State workforce (the 2nd best in the Nation!). Your participation is the keystone to this success. Thank you for your continued support. Let’s best Texas for the #1 spot in 2009!

2009 SEFA Campaign Offers New Options

By the time your agency kicks-off your SEFA campaign this year you will be able to download information directly from our website, about your favorite charities such as their mission, the cost to run their program, and how much of your donation provides actual services. You will also be able to access information on how much of your donation is used to run your local SEFA program, giving you a clear idea about the advantage of using payroll deduction to support your charities. The SEFA Council is moving into the second year of a three-year effort to verify the eligibility of all charities currently participating in our annual campaigns. This process, called recertification, applies the same eligibility tests to participating charities as those tests used to admit a new charity into SEFA. Consequently, you may see that a few charities are missing from the 2009 campaign directories. These charities did not pass our review. However, a charity so impacted may reapply to SEFA once those issues resulting in dismissal are successfully addressed. If one of your favorite charities is no longer participating in SEFA, please encourage them to reapply for admission. Again, thank you for your support.
